Summer Reading

SummerReading

Growing up we would always go away in the summer for a couple of weeks, but before we set off my mum would always give me an array of new books to enjoy while we were away and summer reading is a tradition that I continued for many years. There’s something a little different about a book enjoyed while away, it forces me to savour an hour spent in the sunshine by the pool or at the beach, something that often leaves me twiddling my thumbs.
I decided to resurrect the tradition and pick up a couple of books to read on an upcoming trip at the end of the month. I have been asking friends for new book recommendations and this is the shortlist:

Sweetbitter by Stephanie Danler

The Hopefuls by Jennifer Close

The Singles Game by Lauren Weisberger

The Girls by Emma Cline

This Must Be The Place by Maggie O’Farrell

Hot Milk by Deborah Levy

You’ll Grow Out Of It by Jessi Klein

All Is Not Forgotten by Wendy Walker

Appetite by Sheila Grinell
