I am not normally a banana fan but while in Maui in September I discovered Grandma Brady’s banana bread. It was the perfect combination of flavours and wasn’t overtly sweet meaning it could be eaten any time of day. I was so taken with it that I whipped up some banana bread on my return to California. I added walnuts to give it a little bit of a crunchy texture but it would taste equally delicious with the addition of pecans and if your preference is something a little sweeter add a sprinkling of dark chocolate chips. It could also be taken as a hostess gift wrapped with some brown paper and festive twine for hosts to enjoy the day after.
I absolutely love Christmas and the magic that this time of year brings. This weekend we bought our Christmas tree and I have began decorating it with the plethora of ornaments that I picked up while back home and I love that they now each hold their own special meaning. I still have a few more decor pieces to get so I thought I would share a few items that would work for a number of different themes as a little seasonal inspiration. I can’t wait to bring the seasonal spirit into all areas of my apartment and to make it feel warm and cosy, now that it is December I am finally allowing myself to go full force!
I have always been a shoe girl but this season I found myself drawn to the bag section, both in store and online, eyeing up the selection. Over the summer I reorganised my daily bag essentials into pouches and compartments which has made it really easy for me to switch my bag every day and I have loved mixing and matching my bags to my outfits. While shopping at the weekend I found lots of cute options for fall so I have rounded up some of my favourites this season, all of which are under $250. Happy shopping!
I say it every year but this year is flying by, I can’t believe it is November and the year is drawing to a close. I am kicking off the month in London embracing the crisp weather before returning to California for Thanksgiving and hopefully closing out the month with some milder weather.
I have so many thick winter layers and jumpers that I have waiting to wear so I have lugged them across the pond where they have really come into their own. While cream, burgundy and all spectrum of browns will always be a fall favourite, I am so excited that green is such a strong trend this season. I’m enjoying seeing the stores filled with an array of shades and I have started building on the pops of green that I have in my wardrobe with olive green heels, a forest green bag and a moss green chunky polo neck.
As a shopper I love any excuse to buy things and homeware is one of my favourite things to shop for. I think that anything for the home makes an excellent present as they’re very practical gifts and often things that people wouldn’t buy for themselves. The entertaining pieces that others have brought for me now hold many happy memories not only of the person who gave them to me but of all the parties and social gatherings that the items has been used at.
Here are some ideas of gifts for the home, they would also make great hostess gifts for any Christmas parties that you are attending:
